Your renter’s policy covers damage to your personal property. The perils that are covered are described in the policy but generally exclude insect damage. If the damage is unseen and results in a collapse there could be coverage. Taking care of a termite problem is not a covered peril.

Renters Insurance does not cover termite damage. In fact termites are not the problem of the renter other then reporting to the landlord. This pest issue rests on the responsibility of the Landlord. Unfortunately the Landlords insurance will not cover the termites either since rodent, insects and vermin are excluded from a property policy. Time to call the exterminator.
