		<description><![CDATA[Well yes, they can require that you purchase Renters Insurance as a condition of your lease agreement.  Frankly, they do it in order to make sure that thier interest is protected, namely  that if either you or someone you know damages the apartment, the complex knows that there is insurance in place to cover their loss. However, it is really important that you purchase insurance to protect YOUR interest.  It is your home and your belongings after all.]]></description>

		<description><![CDATA[Yes an apartment complex or landlord for that matter can require by contract that all tenants maintain renters insurance. This would be a condition of the rental agreement and is designed to protect from a liability suit against the landlord for a potential claim caused by the tenant. If you do not wish to carry renters insurance you have the option of seeking a different landlord without the requirement. On a personal note, renters insurance is very inexpensive and covers so much. It really makes no sense not to carry renters insurance.]]></description>
