		<description><![CDATA[Medicare Safety Nets provide additional relief to Medicare recipients in Australia who incur higher than usual medical costs. Under the Original Safety Net, a rebate is provided when a threshold is reached for out-of-pocket medical services. Under the Extended Safety Net, Concession cardholders and families eligible for Family Tax Benefit (Part A) can receive 80% of out-of-pocket costs or the EMSN benefit for out-of-hospital services (whichever is lower) when a threshold is met.
