You can complete both tasks on the social security website, ssa.gov. There's a series of prompts for you to follow, but it's fairly easy to navigate. You can also sign up in person at your local social security office.

Please note, if you're applying under a special enrollment period for Medicare (espeically Part B), I would recommend completing the paperwork at your local social security administration office. It can generally take a few weeks for the paperwork to be processed and for you to receive your confirmation and Medicare card (sometimes longer depending on their volume and time of the year).

Please feel free to contact me for further assistance. Thanks very much.
