Medicare will cover anything medically wrong with your eyes. It will not cover eyeglasses or contact lenses. The only exception to that rule is that Medicare will help pay for new glasses or contact lenses after cataract surgery if you meet the Medicare guidelines. Your eye doctor would know if Medicare would help pay for new glasses or contacts after cataract surgery.

Medicare does not cover periodic eye exams for vision testing and does not cover eyeglasses, in most cases. Medicare will pay for one pair of eyeglasses following cataract surgery in which an introcular lens was implanted. Medicare will also pay for treatment or surgery by a medical doctor for eye disease.
