Medicare Supplemental Plan F covers 100% of what Medicare doesn't cover. Keep in mind, when you have Supplemental (AKA Medigap) Plans, Medicare is your primary insurance provider. For medically necessary procedures, Medicare Parts A (Hospital) and B (Doctors) provides good coverage, but still leaves folks on Medicare with a lot of out of pocket exposure. The Plan F pays for everything that Medicare doesn't pay. However, if Medicare determines that the medical procedure you received wasn't medically necessary, they won't pay anything nor will the Supplement Plan (regardless of who you get your supplemental plan with).

Plan F covers the 20% of Medicare approved medical expenses that Medicare doesn't cover. There are No co-pays or deductibles. The plan covers:
Part A hospital coinsurance,
365 additional hospital reserve days
Benefit for blood
Part B Co-Insurance
Skilled nursing facility co-insurance
Part A deductible
Part B deductible
Part B excess
Foreign travel expense
Preventative care co-insurance
with NO out-of-pocket expense

Plan G might also be a great option, depending on your situation. Make sure you are working with an agent that shops all the companies available to you in your area.

Medicare supplement plan F is the most comprehensive of the modernized Medigap plans. Every carrier that writes Medicare supplement plans includes plan F in their portfolio.

Plan F tracks Medicare Part A (hospital) and Part B (doctor and outpatient). All Medicare approved A and B claims are paid at 100% by plan F.

Over 90% of my clients that have a Medicare supplement plan have something OTHER THAN plan F. These are value shoppers that recognize there are better ways to spend their money.
