A Chiropractor is covered under Medicare Part B under limited circumstances. Medicare covers the Manual Manipulation of the spine if it is necessary to correct a subluxation. Subluxation is defined as when one of the bones in your spine moves out of position and the chiropractor will perform what I refer to as a spinal manipulation. Medicare will cover 80% for the manual manipulation and you are responsible for the other 20% if you don't have a Medicare Supplement.

Chiropractic care is covered by Medicare in some situations. Medicare Part B pays for a chiropractor's manual manipulation of the spine to correct subluxation. If a hand held device is used during the manual manipulation, the use of the device is not covered.

Initial physical exams, evaluations, X-rays, acupuncture, physical therapy, supplements and orthopedic devices prescribed or provided by a chiropractor are NOT covered.
