Medicare will pay for in home care if the home health agency providing it is Medicare approved, the patient receiving it is following a doctor's care plan and receiving services such as PT or OT, and the person is home bound. In a nutshell, this means that it is very difficult or detrimental for the person to leave home due to their condition, and they need assistance of another person or mobility device to do so.

Medicaid payment of home health services vary depending on each state. Under federal Medicaid rules, coverage of home health services must include part-time nursing, HCA services, and medical supplies and equipment.
