Medicare Part B covers emergency room visits. Once you have met the annual Part B Medicare deductible of $166 Medicare will cover 80% of your Emergency Room visit. If you have a Medicare Supplement it will cover the 20% Medicare leaves off. I advise my clients to use the Emergency Room for life threatening illnesses or accidents. Otherwise go to your doctor or an outpatient clinic where you can see a doctor without an appointment. Doing that will save you both time and money.

Yes. This actually falls under your Medicare Part B coverage. Medicare Part A is known as hospital insurance, but handles the inpatient hospital stays. Emergency Room visits are covered under Part B.

Original Medicare (Parts A & B) cover about 80% of the costs for medical care. Generally, you're paying your Part B deductible and 20% of the Medicare-approved amount for the services the doctor(s) provide. A Medicare supplement plan can cover these expenses.
