		<description><![CDATA[People receiving SSI (Supplemental Security Income) have become eligible for this benefit based on their being over age 65, a disabled or blind adult, or a child who is disabled and blind, with the added criteria that all must have very limited income and assets. Therefore, many people on SSI also receive Medicaid, which is comprehensive health insurance offered to those in the US with very low income and assets.

However, people on SSI can get Medicare if they paid into Social Security.
