Mild, infrequent episodes of anxiety that are alleviated by prn medication do not generally have much effect, if any, on life insurance rates. Where anxiety, and every other mental or emotional condition, makes a big effect on life insurance is when it interferes with daily living. Persons on Disability specifically for anxiety, depression, or bipolar disorder will find it difficult to obtain a medically underwritten policy, as will individuals who have had to be recently hospitalized for such. However, there are simplified issue policies available to cover these cases.

Anxiety is one of the leading gateway medical conditions to other medical conditions such as: high blood pressure, migraines, GERD, etc... So, most likely, it will have some consideration in the underwriting process. But, every life insurer has different underwriting guidelines, so it will depend on several factors for individual consideration. Not only will it depend on the level of anxiety and the treatment plan, but other medical conditions related and unrelated as well. And more importantly, it will depend on the type of plan(whole, term, universal, etc.), and the face amount you are looking to purchase. The higher the face amount and age, the more strict the underwriting guidelines will be. My recommendation would be to find a local insurance broker that offers several carriers, and work with them to find the best company and plan. A broker will know the variations of underwriting between companies, can perform a pre-screen for better determination, and what type of plan and face amount will work best for your needs and budget.

That would really depend on the level of anxiety that you are talking about, whether it is being treated by a medical professional, and the company that is providing the policy. Each company is going to have its own guidelines as to what is an acceptable risk and what policy it will make available to an individual. Always remember there are many life insurance companies and many different policies available. Contact a local agent and they will help direct you to the policy that will best fit your needs.
