As an industry whole home tends to have lower premiums over all simply due to the fact you can't drive a home down the road. What is really comes down to is statistics. A stationary object is going to be subject to less claims on average then a moving object. This is an over simplification but you get my point.

Simply stated, it is more likely that a car insurance claim will be opened than a homeowners' claim. Insurance policy pricing is designed to reflect the rick that a company has in placing coverage. Statistically, in large part because they are moving objects that are operated in an imperfect environment, more people sadly have car accidents than they have issues at their homes that cause damage.

Great question! The insurance industry is all about risk. The greater the chance that something bad will happen, and you have to file a claim, the higher the cost. Your chances of getting into an accident or having damage done to your car is greater than your risk of your home being destroyed by a tornado, for example, so your premiums are less on your home. Your driving habits can also make that premium be higher than it might be, if you are ticket or accident prone. If you have more questions, just contact me, I'll be happy to help. Thanks for asking!

The insurance industry charges premium based on the number and amount of claims they pay out. There are less claims on a homeowners policy than there is on an auto insurance policy. The more accidents there are, the more the insurance industry pays out therefore the more they have to collect.
