A homeowner’s policy is a package of forms that identify the coverage the company is extending on the property. They are not specific to your property. The declaration page identifies all of the parties in the policy and states the absolute limits of the policy. This is the part of the legal contract that customizes the forms into an understandable whole. The declaration page is what makes the policy yours.

The Declaration page of a Homeowners' Policy is the page that outlines the coverage that is particular to your home. The Declaration (Dec) page includes the policy number and the date your policy began. It lists you as the policyholder and both your mailing and location address. It goes on to state the current property amounts including your Dwelling, Other Structures and Personal Property as well as any "inside limits" that may be stated for particular categories of personal property such as jewelry, fine arts, fire arms etc. The policy Dec will state your policy deductible for property coverage and the settlement option (usually Replacement Guarantee). Next it will state the amount of Liability coverage you have as well as any Medical Payment protection.
The Dec will also show the property rating territory, proximity to a fire hydrant and fire protection class. Finally, the premium will be listed.
