It is always a good idea to talk with your Insurance Professional about the specific terms and conditions of your policy. In general, Homeowners insurance provides coverage for your dwelling and personal belongings if they are damaged or lost due to a covered peril. Examples of some of the most common are fire, theft, vandalism and the like. Though some companies may include some unique limitations or exclusions like wind or hurricane damage due to proximity to coastal areas for example, generally you will find that the two most common exclusions are loss due to earth movement and loss due to flood. Earth movement can range from sink hole rto earthquake as but two. This coverage may in most cases, be endorsed back into a homeowners' policy. However, coverage for flood is oonly available through the purchase of a separate flood insurance policy.

Home insurance is designed to cover sudden and accidental losses. Home insurance is not a maintenance policy and it does not cover long term damage or wear and tear. Home insurance provides coverage for your dwelling, other structures (fence, shed ect.), personal property and liability coverage. There are several optional coverages available including Water/Sewer Backup, Law and Ordinance, Earthquake, ect. You also want to make sure you purchase a Replacement Cost policy which will provide full value for your home, not a depreciated amount.
