Your policy is a contract between the company and you. As long as you can show you are the same individual who purchased the policy, you are entitled to the benefits of the policy. Contact your state to find out about their laws for establishing identity after name changes.

Since this is a name change due to a divorce/marriage - I personally do not see much of an issue to it.  However it is your duty to tell your insurance company about such changes.]]></description>
