If you have an Ho-2 (or higher) policy it will cover water damage from a pipe burst in the home. Oddly enough, it will not cover the damage to the pipe itself.
The standard homeowner’s policy does not cover damage caused by water entering the home from outside. It does cover damage from water that comes from a burst pipe inside the home. The trickiest issue is sewer back-up which is water that should be leaving the home but doesn’t. That isn’t covered unless a special coverage is purchased. This is often overlooked by agents. When you have a soaked carpet and warping floor boards is not the time to discover that you don’t have water back-up coverage.
