The very best thing to do is talk to your Insurance Professional about the specifioc terms and conditions of your policy. Different companies handle hurricane coverage in different ways depending upon your location and it's proximity to coastal areas. Some companies, if approved by a state's Insurance Department, may impose an additional deductible if your home is within a certain distance to the coast line, usually 2500-2600 ft or there abouts. These companies may require that a deductible that represents a certain percentage of the dwelling amount as oposed to the normal flat stated deductible. This obviously can make a big difference in your out of pocket expense should you suffer such a loss.
