There should be a customer service number on your insurance card that you can call to verify the policy is active and you are covered. They&#039;ll likely ask you for your name and other identifying information (e.g. policy number, social security number, date of birth, etc.) - they can only release the information to the policyowner (in health insurance this is generally also the insured - if not the insured, it&#039;s the spouse or another family member - seen more commonly in group plans).
