		<description><![CDATA[There are three types of people who have short term disability insurance: those whose employers pay the premium, those working in states with mandated coverage, and those opting to buy the policy themselves.

Unfortunately, many people assume they fit into one of the first two categories. Most employers do not pay the premiums for employees. Only five states have mandatory short term disability. Policies need to be purchased prior to becoming disabled, so these are dangerous assumptions.]]></description>
