Auto insurance property damage occurs when your vehicle hits another vehicle or object. Typically, your property damage coverage is between $7,500 and $100,000, depending upon the state where you reside and the carrier that covers your autos. Of course, you should always consider at least $50,000 of property damage coverage on your vehicles.

In a vehicle accident both people and property are damaged. The people are covered by bodily injury limits of your auto policy. The property is covered under the physical damage limit. The most common property loss is the car that you hit. While there are larger items that you might hit, another car is the place where the physical damage limit is most often applied.

Depends upon which property damage part you are looking at and which state you live in.

I will speak first to the common elements of property damage. Property damage covers direct physical damage to another persons property caused by your automobile. This limit is usually set high because it is trying to cover damage to large objects, like buildings and bridges.

Property damage can also be in a no-fault state for "property buy-back damage" which refers to the mini-tort. This means you can pay the sub-limit deductible to have the other parties insurance pay for your property damage (please note that in no-fault states your insurance normally pays for the damage to your car).
