Your auto insurance will cover you when you rent a car with the same coverage's you currently carry on your personal auto policy. All rules, coverage's deductibles and limits apply. A rental car is considered a temporary substitute vehicle. Keep in mind this must be a vehicle of the private passenger type, not U-hauls or commercial vehicles. Also renting a vehicle does not give you permission to loan the vehicle to another party as all operators must be listed on the rental agreement. I recommend you call your insurance carrier before renting a vehicle to make sure your policy coverage's are adequate.
