That is a great question. The answer is you bet, if you've done something to deserve it. They cannot just decide one day to drop you, but if you have given them a good reason, like misrepresentation of facts, or non-payment of your policy, they will drop you like a bad habit. You may also get dropped for committing an intoxicant related felony like vehicular manslaughter. In any event, the only way they will drop you is if you have earned it. Thanks for asking!

Yes, but not just because they can. Companies file insurability guidelines with each state's Insurance Department as well as their pricing grids. These must be approved for use by the Insurance Department and, once that is done, they become the standard b y wich all insureds and prospects are equally evaluated. If as a result of your driving history or claim activity, you end up falling outside of their guidelines, the company may non renew your coverage.

Obviously, they can “drop” you for not paying your premium. In California that is a lengthy process. They can cancel a policy mid-term for cause. That again is a lengthy process. Most of the time the company will refuse to renew a policy when they no longer want to accept the risk of a particular car and household.

The simple answer is yes. Car insurance is not guaranteed renewable. Your company can refuse renewal or raise your rates at any time. If you are late with premium payments your company can refuse to reinstate your policy. This type of thing happens when your driving record has more tickets or accidents than the company finds acceptable.
