Your auto insurance will often extend to a vehicle you rent, depending on the specific circumstances. If the rental is replacing your car because of repair, vs, a car n vacation, the situation may be different. It's best to determine the state you are in, the company you are with, and why you are renting a car to determine exact coverage.

It may be possible, but you will need to talk to your Insurance Professional about the specific terms and conditions of your policy. In many cases, the insurance that you have on your car policy will extend over onto another car that is being used to temporarily replace yours. A rental car would generally qualify for that so long as you are renting it personally and not through a business. Keep in mind that only the coverage you have will extend so if you do not have Collision on your policy, there would therefore also be no coverage for that type of damage on the rental so you will have to make arrangements to purchase the coverage the rental company offers.

Yes you may use your personal auto insurance to rent a private passenger vehicle. You will have the same coverage's that you carry on your personal auto. There are pro's and con's to using your own insurance but you are covered. I highly suggest you always confirm with your agent as there may be certain restrictions depending on the insurance carrier you are with.
