You can switch auto insurance at any time. With more than 33 years of experience as a car insurance broker, I see this happen every day. Usually, the broker or company can be contacted to terminate coverage.

Keep in mind that it's important not to let the prior policy lapse if you are changing companies. Also, it's important that a new policy be approved by the underwriter, as well as the broker!

Yes, of course, you can switch car insurance at any time during your policy period. Be sure to check to see if your company surcharges for mid term cancellations, because you don't want surprises. And if you are going to replace your carrier, be sure that the new insurance is in place BEFORE you cancel your existing policy to avoid any costly gaps in coverage.

You can cancel insurance coverage at any time; just notify your insurance company. If you are approved you can start insurance at any time. The combination of stopping one policy and starting another is normally seamless. The company that is currently insuring your car will return any unused premium. Some companies cancel policies pro-rata, others use short-rate cancellations.
