how to ace a life insurance physical? You really can't "ace" a life insurance exam, any real conditions you have will show up on the lab reports, However, you can improve your labs by simply avoiding doing certain things the prior evening or during the day of the exam. Eat a balanced meal, watch your carbs and alcohol consumption, get a good night's sleep. While this won't hide a high number for things like liver function, it won't add to it, either.
A life insurance physical that includes the standard blood and urine analysis measures your body chemistry within “normal” ranges. So you don’t have to “ace” it, just get into the normal ranges. Schedule the exam at the time you wake up. Your urine is as good as it gets for the first ounce or two after sleeping all night, so do that first. Second, have your blood pressure and EKG taken before the medical questions are asked. Some of your health history may cause your blood pressure to rise. And remember, you height and weight are also factor. Your agent can give you the height and weight tables of any carriers. If you’re close to a better underwriting category, it may be worth your time to start that diet and exercise program. 14 hours before the exam: no food, no exercise, no sex. These medical indicators can’t be significantly changed a week from your exam, but the longer you delay and alter your behavior prior to the exam, you may be able to mitigate some of the results.
In addition to the great tips given here by the other professionals, I would add:
> Don't smoke a cigar or be around excessive smoke within a week before the exam, if you are applying for a nonsmoker or celebratory cigar rate
> Be sure to drink plenty of water in the 24 hours before the exam
> The insurance company will add back half the weight lost within the last year if you lose over 10 to 20 pounds. I have seen far too often where people put off applying until they lose weight, only to have the savings (if any) offset by their older age. Go ahead and get your rate locked in, then if you lose weight and keep it off for a year, you can always reapply in a couple of years.
> If you have "white coat syndrome" and experience a high blood pressure reading, they will allow you to rest and retake your blood pressure two more times. So try not to stress about it.
