   Government health insurance begins when you go to work for a government agency including the military. If you are a civilian employ of the government, you may also qualify for government provided health insurance.
   
   If you meet poverty guidelines you may qualify for Medicaid or SCHIP. If you are 65 or older you may qualify for Medicare.
