Workers comp and disability are similar but very different.

Both provide LOT (loss of time) benefits but Workers Comp covers so much more. In addition to your LOT benefit workers comp also has life insurance benefits and medical coverage for your on the job injury or illness.

Disability only has a LOT benefit.

Are workers comp insurance and disability insurance the same?  Yes and no. They are both the same in that they provide income when a person becomes disabled to help generate income. No, in that workers comp only applies to at work or on the job injuries (rarely if ever illness). Disability insurance applies to off the job injuries, like sliding into second base in your softball league and snapping an ankle or illness regardless of on the clock or not.
