The short answer is, if you need your paycheck to survive, then yes, disability insurance is worth the price. If you can get by for months or years without a paycheck then there is no need for disability coverage.

Is Disability insurance worth it? That is a question that can only be answered by the individual and what is valuable to them. Some people would rather pay for extra features on their cell phone plan than make sure they've protected their paycheck from them getting sick or hurt off the job. I mean nobody gets hurt away from work??? The worth of insurance is up to the person who choses it or decides not to. They're the ones who live with the result.
