Life insurance carriers that require a blood and/or urine test to get a medically underwritten policy will test for indication of drug use. Some carriers, including Met Life, offer the option of a policy that does not require a blood or urine test. However, those carriers then usually require that the use of illegal substances be admitted on the application.

MetLife offers life insurance that does drug test, and it also offers nonmed life insurance that does not drug test. The applications for both types of policies will ask if there has been illegal drug use in the past. One policy does a blood test and urine test, while the other just goes by what is on the application, which must be filled out honestly to prevent insurance fraud.
