Some health insurance plans will cover a percentage of the cost of bariatric surgeries (including lap bands) - you would be responsible for the difference. Please note, plans that provide coverage for it may have certain requirements be met for the plan to pay a benefit so you may want to verify with the carrier what/if they will pay for a portion of the surgery.
If you're unsure whether your health plan provides coverage for the procedure, you can check the language inside of your policy, or contact your agent/the carrier to find out.
