Unlike when you may apply for some levels of life insurance there is no physical exam or drug test that is administered in order to qualify for health insurance. With the latest round of implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) effective January 1, 2014, all major medical policies are guaranteed to be issued and cannot apply any pre-existing condition exclusions or waiting periods. Your use of tobacco products can be asked about and the law does allow for a rate adjustment for tobacco usage.
