Can You Have A Mortgage Without Homeowners Insurance?

Any mortgage company with which I am familiar requires Homeowners insurance as a condition of the loan. Thus, when you are closing on the purchase of your home for the first time, or refinancing, you will be required to provide a copy of your Homeowners Insurance Declaration Sheet or at least a binder. If your policy cancels for whatever reason and yo do not obtain alternative coverage, in most if not all cases, the mortgage company will secure coverage and include the cost in your monthly installments.Answered on July 2, 2014flag this answer
