    This varies by State but typically and insurance company will look at your driving history for three years. During that period, they can charge you points for at fault accidents and some companies will charge for moving violations.

    Although they CHARGE you for 35-36 months, some insurance companies will look at your FIVE YEAR record to see if there is anything ELSE out there. This might cost you some discounts if there is activity in the past five years, but they should not charge you points for incidents older than 36 months.
