Not usually. Medical insurance provides coverage for immediate or preventative medical needs. Assisted living is not a medical condition. Long term care insurance is what is used to pay for an assisted living location. Long term care insurance creates a pool of money to pay for the expense of services provided by an assisted living facility.

As +Larry Gilmore indicated, assisted living is not normally a medical necessity.

In some cases, health insurance policies will pay for care in a nursing home or intermediate care facility if the admission follows a hospital stay and the individual is admitted to the facility due to a medical necessity.

Health insurance plans may also pay for home health care if there is a medically justifiable condition.
