Can You Drive A Car With Someone Else’s Insurance?
- 37376 POINTSview profileDavid G. Pipes, CLU®, RICP®Business Development Officer, T.D. McNeil Insurance Services, Fresno, CaliforniaInsurance isn’t on the driver. Insurance is on the automobile. The issue is to determine if the car is insured. If it is, anyone driving it is insured. However, you will not be covered operating your car with your neighbor’s insurance policy. Your neighbor’s policy covers his car, not yours.Answered on March 26, 2014flag this answer

Some companies will require the drivers to be listed on the policy, some will extend driving privileges to all members of the household. Some will go so far as to allow anyone that you give permission to. Check with your agent first, and find out their rules. Thanks for asking!Answered on May 12, 2014flag this answer
