Renters Insurance is designed to reimburse you the current value or replacement value of items which are damaged due to an unforeseen event such as fire, water damage, etc.  If your electronics just stop working, is broken, it probably will not be covered.  If it was broken by a stranger, I would look at your policy to see if that would be covered.

As always, reach out to your agent or get a consultation with a reputable agency who can design the best possible coverage.  You may have to look at a different type of insurance for "broken" items versus damaged from an event.

Breakage is not a covered peril of a policy unless you had an item specifically scheduled for breakage. However breakage means just that, it broke, not quit working. Items like expensive pictures or vases may often be insured for breakage due to there value. An additional premium will be required for this coverage.
