While I personally have no experience with this particular company, a quick look at AM Best shows that they currently have only a C++ financial strength rating with a negative outlook. Indeed, they were just downgraded on their financial strength on March 17, 2014.
Keep in mind, that AM Best is not a gauge of a company's claims processes and procedures; it is only a representation of a company's financial reserves, pending claims, policyholder surplus, and an estimate of a company's ability to pay future claims.
Our agency has chosen not to represent a company rated less than A-, as it is not unusual for companies rated lower to have financial problems. However, that being said, there are a large number of smaller companies with a lower financial strength rating that are very good companies with great reputations. The only way to tell would be to go to the department of insurance for the state of domicile and check the complaints and judgments rendered.
