If your spouse cannot qualify on their own, they can meet eligibility requirements based on your work and residency. Your spouse must have been married to you at least 1 year before applying.

    Whether a spouse is qualifying for Medicare based on their own employment history, or on the employment of their husband or wife, the spouse must be age 65 to receive Medicare. A spouse might also qualify for Medicare before age 65 by being disabled for two years, having ALS, or having ESRD.
