    The best way to get health insurance on your own is to go through the health exchange for your state.  This can be a very confusing and frustrating process however, so I recommend that you locate an insurance broker in your state that is contracted to assist you through this process.  There is no cost to you for going through the broker, and the amount of time and energy saved is well worth it.
