A widow will qualify for Medicare when they turn age 65.  This assumes the widow or the spouse worked and is a US citizen or permanent resident of the United States.  The person would get Medicare Part A & B plus they should consider a Medicare Supplement Plan (Medigap Plan).  Medicare Part A is typically free and covers hospital care.  Medicare Part B has a premium of around $105 per month for most people which covers doctors and tests.  Medicare Supplement Plans can vary based on which plan and what state a person lives in.
