If you are covered by Medicare Part C (Medicare Advantage) you do not need to carry your Medicare card because your private health insurance company takes the place of Medicare.

Instead, carry a copy of your Medicare card with you and blot out the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number. Leave your original Medicare card at home and carry the duplicate.
