    Medicare Part A is free to the person receiving it, if they have paid into the Social Security taxes for at least 10 years. Medicare Part A has deductibles and copays for when Part A benefits are used. These are paid for by the person receiving the services.

    Medicare Part B has a premium that is charged to the Medicare recipient. There is also a deductible that is paid by the person receiving the care.
