   I'm not sure there are problems when the consumer is informed on what annuities will and won't do.  Annuities can be a great tool for the ultimate goal of retirement income, but determining whether is it good for you will be determined by your particular situation as well as your wants and needs.  Every financial product, every financial strategy has pros and cons how they will impact you is dependent upon your situation.
