It really depends on your policy and the way it's written and if something has already happened to your iPhone the only way to make sure is to file a claim with your insurance company. If your iPhone is still undamaged and you just want to make sure it's protected then contact your insurance agent and tell them "I want to specifically schedule my iPhone in my homeowner's policy for $600, replacement cost, special causes of loss". That's insurance talk for "I want to make sure my iPhone is covered, for anything that might accidentally happens to it, and for the full cost to replace it. Some insurance companies will do this and others will not.

Because an Iphone is “personal property,” it will be covered by most homeowner’s policies. Unless it is specifically scheduled on a personal articles floater that is attached as a part of the homeowner’s policy it will be treated as all other personal property. By that I mean that the loss will be adjusted subject to the deductible. The claim must show that damage has occurred and that the damage was caused by one of the perils covered by the policy. The personal property is also subject to a reduced limit of coverage when it is away from the covered home. Few Iphones will be more valuable that the reduced limit and so should be covered. There are independent companies that provide specialized coverage for mobile phones and most service providers have arrangements to secure coverage.
