It is possible to get auto insurance coverage if your license is suspended if you are in the process of getting your license re-instated and need to show proof of insurance to get your license re-instated otherwise I don't believe that you will be able to secure coverage as you are not able to legally drive. Remember every policy is different. Please read your policy completely to understand the coverage provided and any exclusions that there may be or contact your local agent to have them go over the policy with you.

In the process for applying for auto insurance in California, the drivers must submit a valid driver’s license.  The underwriting process will stop because the company must verify the driving record of the proposed driver.  The company may offer to issue the policy with that particular driver excluded.

That is a great question! Without a current license, it will be very difficult to get your insurance. There are a couple of ways that you can, however. The first is to show proof that you have satisfied the conditions of the suspension, and the date the suspension will be lifted. The company may choose to issue a policy with a start date as of the expiration of the suspension. They may also choose to issue a policy that begins the day tour suspension ends. Bear in mind that this is a rarity, and not common; and that the reason for your suspension will play a big part in their decision. I hope that helps, thanks for asking!
