It will, but it also depends upon where the water came from.  If there is a heavy wind and rain storm and the wind damages your roof, causing rain water to leak in and damage the inside of your home, there will be coverage for that.  If on the other hand, the heavy rain does not cause direct damage to your home, but raises the water table in your property, which causes water to leak into your basement, it is possible that there would not be any coverage for that because ground water damage is usually excluded under a homeowners policy.  Be sure to ask your insurance professional about coverge for failure of any sewars or drainage systems like curtain drains or sump pumps. If you have such coverage, then you will be more likely to be covered if your basement fills with water as a result of any failure.
