   There are only two things that might prevent you from staying on your parent's auto policy ; 1) If you obtain a car of your own and register it in your name, then in most states, you will have to purchase and maintain your own auto insurance policy 2) your parents decide it is time for you to be on your own and responsible for your own car and insurance.
