    To the best of my knowledge homeowners insurance is not required in any state. Your mortgage lender may require you to carry homeowners insurance on your premise though. The amount of coverage that you have will depend on many factors the most prominent of those factors would be the reconstruction cost of the premise in most cases. Contact a local agent to discuss your coverage needs and the costs associated with that coverage.
