If Long Term Care Insurance is paying your bills for nursing home, assisted living, or at home care, you may not need Medicaid. However, if your Long Term Care Insurance does not keep up with the cost of your care, and you have sufficient out of pocket expenses that you need to go on Medicaid, having Long Term Care Insurance should not affect your Medicaid eligibility. Rather, you would probably not want to continue paying for your Long Term Care Insurance policy when Medicaid picks up the cost of your long term care.
