If you have no lender to satisfy then it is in within your right to self insurance your property. If you feel you can handle any potential loss on your home by all means feel free. Keep in mind should you decide down the road to get insurance again and you have gone without referred to as a lapse or gap in coverage you will find potential challenges in obtaining coverage's again as insurance carriers use this as part of their underwriting criteria.Answered on June 28, 2013flag this answer
